PLACENTA IN PRE-ECLAMPSIA: MACROSCOPIC FINDINGS

• Slightly smaller than placentas from uncomplicated pregnancies.

• Infarction: Extensive (5-10% of placental parenchyma) in 30% of cases of severe pre-eclampsia.

• Retroplacental hematomas: 12-15%.
