THE PLACENTA IN PRE-ECLAMPSIA
Pregnancy-induced hypertension: Hypertension that appears for the first time after the 20th week of gestation and resolves after the pregnancy has terminated.
Pre-eclampsia: Pregnancy-specific syndrome characterized by hypertension and proteinuria.
Pathogenesis: Villi lesions are direct sequelae of ischemia due to what is considered inadequate placentation in early pregnancy.
