FETAL RHABDOMYOMA: PATHOLOGIC FINDINGS
Myxoid type: Primitive oval or spindle-shaped cells with indistinct cytoplasm, slender eosinophilic muscle fibers (myotubular stage of muscle development), richly myxoid matrix, rare cross-striations.
Intermediate type: Differentiated muscle fibers, less conspicuous or absent spindle-shaped mesenchymal cells, little or no myxoid stroma.. Predominant cell: broad, strap-shaped muscle cells, abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm, frequent cross-striations.
