PLEUROPULMONARY BLASTOMA: TREATMENT AND PROGNOSIS
Complete surgical resection when possible.
Preoperative irradiation and chemotherapy.
Survival rate: 58%, median follow-up of 21 months (1-180 months); 39% died of tumor.
Median time to recurrence: 7 months (1-30 months).
Local recurrence: Thoracic cavity.
Metastasis: Ipsilateral and contralateral lobes of lung, CNS.
Type 1: Lower risk of recurrence, better outcome.
Recurrence of type 1: Progression to type 2 or 3 histologic pattern.
